Our crucians are growing

Caught some more crucians and tench in the Kingfisher this week and wondered if some of the smaller crucians could be the ones we stocked last year. So in order to find out I asked the experts that bred them at the Environemt Agency’s Calverton Fish Farm, and they have confirmed that it is more than likely, especially if they have had plenty to eat (which they have). For comparison pictures of them last year (taken 10th July 2015) and those taken 10th June this week can be seen below.

I also caught a tiny one, no more than 1.5 inches long pulling some weed out of the margin, proving that our original fish spawned last year too. Can’t wait ’til they’re 1lb each!
