Major fire at Baker’s

A plume of black smoke emerged from the recycling company in Kilnhurst at 10.00 a.m. this morning (Monday) alerted club officials to the fact that a major fire was breaking out. Just minutes later the sound of sirens could be heard and police and ambulances were on site alerting residents to the problem and effectively sealing off the village.

Environment Agency pollution staff too have been on site and at the time of writing, 17.00hrs, have confirmed that there have not been any problems of pollution in either the canal or Baker’s Pond. Further checks will be made.
