The River Don
The two stretches are situated around Kilnhurst. The first is immediately below the River Don road bridge between Kilnhurst and Hooton Roberts on the left bank and has a locked, 'Anglers Only' car park for security alongside the bridge and eighty purpose built anglers platforms situated along approximately one mile of river. The downstream end of this stretch can also be accessed from the northern end, again via a locked gate, and here cars can be parked behind the pegs.

The second stretch is on the same bank above the bridge, beyond the school and is clearly shown in the K&DAA mebership book. Once again there is a locked car park for security and the length has recently been allocated 15 new angling platforms. More details can be found HERE.
The river is non-navigable so boats are not a problem. It offers a variety of features and species from pacy shallows to steady deep runs of 9 and 10 feet deep. Most river species inhabit the length including roach, dace, chub, bream, gudgeon, trout and barbel, the latter having now reached double figures. All techniques from stick and waggler to feeder and bomb can prove successful on the right day.
The river is available for match bookings, ring Ray Howitt, 01709 585014 for details.
