Just finished the first month of coaching young members of our club and although short on numbers the quality of fishing has been brilliant.

Week 1.Pole fishing on the Kingfisher.

Will who had only fished once before had around 60 fish including tench of about a pound and several nice crucians. Joe who could only stay for 2 hours had over 20 fish.

Week 2. Pole fishing on the Kingfisher.

Not so many fish caught but the average size was bigger than last week. Will had 14lb 11oz while Josh who had to shorten his session had just over 8lb.

Week 3.Waggler and feeder fishing on Great Pond.

Will fished feeder for the first time catching a tench of 3lbs 11ozs along with a couple of skimmers and several roach. Josh gave a display of how to fish a waggler and had almost a fish a throw for 3 hours.

Week 4.Waggler fishing on Great Pond.

Only Will could make it and after seeing Josh last week decided to have a go with the waggler. In the 4 hours he fished he had about 30 fish including a tench over a pound and a skimmer of the same size.

The fishing has been excellent and after such a good start I think we have 3 long term members. Parents are surprised that you can start fishing for less than half the price of the latest “must have” mobile phone. Incidentally the bait bill for the 4 sessions was less than £10

Having a break now but looking forward to starting again after Half Term

(Don’t know how I got that date on the photo!)
