Food for thought……

The current trend, particularly in commercial circles, to provide bigger catches is to keep adding fish way beyond a water’s biomass. But a recent experience on the Carp Pond suggests that this may not always be the answer. In the last month in excess of 600lbs of silver fish were netted from the Carp Pond and stocked into other ponds at the venue. Since then the Carp Pond has fished its head off with numerous 20lbs fish being caught topped by a 26lbs 4ozs fish landed by Chris Oldfield (above). And in the last week there have been further catches the best of which was a three fish catch taken in one night by Peter Burke. The fish were two mirrors weighing 24lbs 6ozs and 16lbs 7ozs and a common of 24lbs 8ozs. And Liam Sykes to had four fish in one night including one of 20lbs and a another of 19lbs 15ozs.
