Carp Pond Improvements

A great deal of work has been done on the Carp Pond in recent weeks.

The ‘hillside’ bank has been wet for a long time despite previous efforts to drain it. However a concerted effort which included putting in French drains, building new access steps, clearing trees, and building new pegs has made the bank much more accessible. So much so that some anglers have now been using this, rather than the other bank.

In addition following advice from a fishery professional a number of trees have been cut back on the other bank to allow light and wind better access to the water.

Later in the year, again acting on advice, the pond will be treated with Siltex, which is fine chalk which improves water quality, reduces silt and improves productivity.
