A new stretch on the Don

IMG_0122

Good news for everyone who enjoys a spot of river fishing and especially specimen anglers who look forward to catching large barbel. Kilnhurst and District, our sister club and whose waters we can all fish, have taken over the stretch upstream of the current fifteen pegs that they control above Kilnhurst School. The new length includes the water up to and immediately above Thrybergh Weir, one of the largest weirs on the River Don and an area known to hold some specimen barbel, chub and pike. The water was previously controlled by Rotherham UAF who relinquished their lease at the begining of the season. It is a good walk up to the weir but by river standards it’s a mere nothing, why not give it a try and let us know how you get on.
